Steam heat specialists
A lot of the homes we work on in Livingston and Millburn have one-pipe steam heat that has been in place for 70 years or more. Steam is a simple, durable system when it is set up right, but many contractors do not understand it. We have been working on steam boilers our whole careers. If your system bangs, heats unevenly, or eats water, we can fix it.
Annual boiler service
The best way to avoid a no-heat call in January is a service visit in the fall. Our annual boiler service includes cleaning the burners and flue passages, checking the combustion, testing the safety controls, checking the low water cutoff and relief valve, inspecting the venting, and looking over the piping for leaks. If we find a problem, we tell you about it before it fails.
When repair is not the answer
We will repair a boiler as long as it makes sense. But if the boiler is 25 years old or more, has a cracked section or leaking heat exchanger, or needs a second major repair in one season, we will recommend replacement. A new, properly sized boiler is more reliable, quieter, and cheaper to run.
